Lansing, MI

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce announced today that Jason Geer has joined the statewide business organization as Small Business Advocate and Chamber Partnership Manager.

Geer comes to the Michigan Chamber from the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce where he served as the Director of Government Affairs.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jason to Michigan Chamber’s Business Advocacy Team,” said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Rich Studley. “Jason’s policy and political experience at both the federal and state level, coupled with his local chamber background, makes him an exceptionally strong addition to our staff.”

“Jason’s new role as Small Business Advocate and Chamber Partnership Manager represents a new initiative by the Michigan Chamber to further strengthen our relationship with leading local chambers,” said Jim Holcomb, Senior Vice President of Business Advocacy & Associate General Counsel for the Michigan Chamber.

“Jason will be working closely with outstanding regional chambers to advance a common legislative agenda as well as providing small business ombudsman services to their members,” Holcomb continued. To date, the Chamber Partnership includes both the Saginaw County and Southern Wayne County chambers.

“We are confident Jason will hit the ground running and further strengthen the Chamber’s ability to be supportive of the new administration’s efforts to promote job creation and business growth in Michigan,” Holcomb concluded.

Geer started his career in public policy working as an intern in Washington, D.C. in the office of U.S. Congressman Dave Camp, then went on to serve as Congressman Camp’s Political Director and Campaign Manager, helping to secure successful re-election bids in 2004 and 2006.  He then went on to serve as a Constituent Relations Specialist for the Republican Caucus of the Michigan House of Representatives and as Deputy Director of Candidate and Party Assistance for the Michigan Republican Party, where he directed candidate and grassroots training for the State.

Geer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Saginaw Valley State University.
