LANSING, Mich.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsement of Rick Snyder for Governor. The Chamber's PAC Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of endorsing Mr. Snyder after meeting with him earlier today to review and discuss his 10-point plan to reinvent Michigan.

On behalf of the Michigan Chamber, PAC Board Chairman Doug Bouma said, "We agree with Rick Snyder on the need for more entrepreneurship and innovation and share his positive vision for Michigan's future. We were also impressed with his clear focus on the economy, growing jobs and keeping our young people in Michigan." Mr. Bouma is CEO of Bouma Corporation/Bouma Construction in Grand Rapids.

"Based on his stand on key issues like reforming Michigan's tax system, reinventing state government and opposing Proposal 1 (the call for a $45 million state constitutional convention on the November 2010 ballot), the Michigan Chamber is confident that Rick Snyder will be the pro-taxpayer, pro-jobs governor we need to move Michigan forward," said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Rich Studley.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is a statewide business organization representing approximately 6,800 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process. The Michigan Chamber represents businesses of every size and type in all 83 counties of the state. It is one of only four state chambers of commerce in the nation accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
