"As a State Representative, Alan Sanborn has consistently voted in favor of free enterprise, personal responsibility, and limited government. Alan is a tax fighter who has supported tax cuts for middle class families and small business. He is also a conservative lawmaker who has voted to cut red tape and improve the business climate for Michigan's job providers," said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Jim Barrett.

"Alan Sanborn has demonstrated through his actions that he will stand and fight for conservative principles," added Barrett. "He has also proven that he is deeply committed to serving the people of Macomb County. The residents of the 12th District deserve a Senator they can be proud of. Alan Sanborn is clearly the strongest candidate in the special primary election to be held on September 11th."

During the regular 1999-2000 legislative session, Rep. Sanborn scored an impressive 100% on the Michigan Chamber's Job Providers Index (JPI). The JPI is the Chamber's voting record on a wide range of economic issues of interest to employers. There are 110 Representatives in the State House. Rep. Sanborn was one of only 10 State Representatives to receive the Michigan Chamber's "Champion of Commerce" Award in the 1999-2000 session for his 100% voting record.

Governor Engler has issued the call for a special primary election to be held on September 11, 2001 with the special general election being held on November 6, 2001.

"The Michigan Chamber is a strong advocate for job providers," said Rep. Sanborn. "Employers across Macomb County and the State look to the Michigan Chamber as a leading voice on business issues. I am pleased to receive their endorsement."

Representative Sanborn was first elected to the State House in February of 1998. The current 12th Senate District includes the cities of Fraser, Sterling Heights and Utica, a portion of Memphis, and the townships of Armada, Bruce, Macomb, Ray, Richmond, Shelby and Washington in the northwest Macomb County.

The Michigan Chamber is a statewide business organization representing approximately 7,000 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process.
