The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsement of Attorney General Mike Cox in his bid for re-election.
"As Michigan's chief law enforcement officer, Attorney General Mike Cox has worked tirelessly to protect Michigan's children and the public," said Robert S. LaBrant, Senior Vice President of Political Affairs for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. "Since taking office in January 2003, Mike Cox's office has arrested 85 Internet sexual predators and pornographers that seek to harm Michigan's children.
"In addition, within days of taking office," LaBrant noted, "Mike Cox created the Child Support Division -- a first-of-its-kind state Attorney General program to collect child support from parents who have the ability to pay, but choose not to.
"In 2003, Cox formed the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) to uncover public corruption and solve cold case homicides. The unit is responsible for more than 50 investigations," continued LaBrant.
"Mike Cox has proven, through his innovative efforts to protect the citizens of Michigan, that he deserves to be re-elected to the Office of Attorney General," LaBrant concluded.
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is a statewide business organization representing approximately 6,900 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber of Commerce was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process.
