The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is running ads on 26 radio stations across southern Michigan addressing out-of- state groups that have been attacking Congressman Joe Schwarz.
"Those out-of-state groups have tried to dominate the debate -- not on issues, but on labels," explained Michigan Chamber President & CEO Jim Barrett.
"Their bias is getting in the way of the facts. Don't take seriously their claim that Joe Schwarz is some sort of flaming liberal," Barrett added.
"The fact is, Congressman Schwarz scored 88 percent on the U.S. Chamber's Voting Record on business and tax issues and has received the U.S. Chamber's coveted Spirit of Enterprise Award," concluded Barrett.
The Michigan Chamber is a statewide business organization which represents more than 6,900 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process.
Following is the script of the 60-second radio spot: Michigan Chamber of Commerce Radio 60 Seconds "Labels" (Barrett): I'm Michigan Chamber President, Jim Barrett
There has been a lot of name calling in Michigan's 7th Congressional District, mostly from out of state groups.
Unfortunately, people who don't live and work here in Michigan have tried to dominate the debate -- not on issues, but labels. Their bias is getting in the way of facts.
The fact is, Congressman Joe Schwarz hit the ground running and has compiled an outstanding record in his first term.
Joe Schwarz has brought to Congress his own unique life experiences: surgeon and medical doctor, Vietnam veteran and CIA officer, Mayor and State Senator.
Don't take seriously the claim by a few that Joe Schwarz is some sort of flaming liberal. He scored 88 percent on the U.S. Chamber's voting record on business and tax issues and received their coveted Spirit of Enterprise Award.
Joe Schwarz is a dedicated, hard working Congressman.
A Congressman, who represents all the people in the 7th Congressional District.
