The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its business agenda for 2008 at a media briefing held in Lansing.
The Michigan Chamber's 2008 business agenda includes both legislative and political priorities:
-- Eliminate the Michigan Business Tax surcharge -- Urge state government to control spending -- Pass the Great Lakes Compact -- Enact a comprehensive energy plan -- Support greater accountability & excellence in education -- Stop burdensome overregulation of business -- Oppose costly government mandated benefits -- Maintain a stable & predictable legal climate -- Establish a pro-business majority in the State House -- Improve Michigan's transportation system
"There is a window of opportunity for the governor and state lawmakers to work together to address several key issues in the months ahead," said Rich Studley, Executive Vice President of the Michigan Chamber. "The Michigan Chamber's business agenda provides a roadmap to what job providers need and want from state government in 2008 -- competency and certainty."
