The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsements for the State Board of Education and three state university governing boards.
The Michigan Chamber is endorsing Nancy Danhof for the State Board of Education.
"Based upon her background, experience and position on key issues, Nancy Danhof is clearly the best candidate for the State Board of Education," said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Jim Barrett. "We're confident that Nancy has the vision and the leadership skills to keep Michigan's educational system moving forward."
Danhof's lifelong career in the education field includes services on the Governor's Education Summit, the National Governor's Conference on Quality in Education, extensive work with the Department of Education, and most recently, Director of the Michigan Foundation for Education Leadership.
The Michigan Chamber is backing Patrick Anderson for the University of Michigan Board of Regents; Randall Pittman and Melanie Foster for the Michigan State University Board of Trustees; and Paul Hillegonds for the Wayne State University Board of Governors.
"These four candidates have the experience and leadership qualities needed to help guide our state universities now and into the future," noted Barrett.
Survey research has shown that the Michigan Chamber's endorsement is one of the most important a candidate can receive.
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is a statewide business organization representing approximately 6,300 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber of Commerce was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process.
