Michigan Chamber and the Mackinac Center for Public Policy to Testify Before House Commerce Committee and Senate Economic Development Committee On Economic Stimulus Package for Michigan

Michigan Chamber President & CEO Jim Barrett, and Larry Reed, President of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, will testify before the House Commerce Committee on Tuesday morning, October 23 and again before the Senate Economic Development, International Trade & Regulatory Affairs Committee on Tuesday afternoon to promote a six-point economic stimulus package for Michigan. The package was unveiled at a press conference last Thursday by Barrett, Reed and State Senator Bill Schuette (R-Midland) where they were joined by a group of statewide legislators and business leaders.

The plan is designed to increase jobs, cut taxes and help working families across Michigan in a manner that mirrors the bipartisan efforts of President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress. The House Commerce Committee will meet at 9 a.m. in Room 519 of the House Office Building in Lansing and the Senate Economic Development, International Trade & Regulatory Affairs Committee will meet at 1 p.m. in Room 110 of the Farnum Building in Lansing.
